Deleting your account or organization

What is removed, what is refused while you are the only owner, and how to hand an organization over first.

Deleting an organization

  1. 1

Export first, if you want anything back

Deletion is permanent and there is no recycle bin.

  2. 2

End the subscription, if there is one

Cancel from Settings › Plan and wait for the paid period to end. Deletion is refused while Stripe still bills the organization.

  3. 3

    Delete from the danger zone

Settings › Organization, owner only, with the organization’s name typed to confirm. Members, invitations, teams, clients, every document, every price, and every file go with it.

Deleting your account

  • Settings › Profile › Delete account: type the confirmation, then open the link in the email that follows. The link is what deletes; it works once.
  • Refused while you are the only owner of any organization, because the organization would be left with nobody who can hand it over or close it. Transfer ownership from the danger zone, or delete the organization, and try again.
  • Your memberships end; documents you created in organizations that remain keep their history with your name removed.

Devices you are signed in on

Settings › Profile › Sessions lists every device with a session and lets you sign any of them out. Changing your password signs every other device out on its own.

What the privacy notice adds

Where the data lives, which processors hold it, how long the logs are kept, and the address to write to with a complaint. It is linked from the foot of every public page.
