How we calculate

How Arrowmics prices a print job.

Arrowmics prices a job the way a printer’s own rate card does: your paper, your printing, your finishes, your margin. The same calculation prices the editor as you type, the quotation you send, and the example on this page, so the product cannot say one thing and do another.

What goes in

Three things, all of them yours.

Nothing is priced from anything you cannot see on the enquiry or in your own rates.

Your enquiry
The papers, the printing sheets, the quantities you want priced, the page count, a finished size when you want sheet counts suggested, and the finishes the job has.
Your masters
The papers, printings, laminations, varnishes, and bindings your organization uses, each at its current price: the newest dated row whose day has come.
What you decide
How many of each, which finishes, anything extra you want to charge for, your margin, and a discount if you grant one.

To lay out a job with your own figures before you sign up, use the free quote sheet.

What comes out

A price for every quantity you quote.

Quote 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 and you get three prices, each one costed for that run.

  • One column per quantity

Paper, printing, finishing, anything extra, and your margin, worked out for that quantity on that sheet.

  • A per-piece price for each

Every quantity you quote gets its own per-piece price from the same rate card, so the customer can see what ordering more is worth.

  • The paper your customer reads

The quotation itself carries the job, the quantities, and the prices. What it costs you stays inside the product.

What is guaranteed

A quotation keeps the rates it was priced with.

What is saved is the whole sheet, choices and rates included, not a reference to your masters.

Saved once, in full
The sheet you see is the sheet that is stored, with the rates it was priced at. Changing a price tomorrow changes nothing you sent today.
Refreshed on purpose
“Refresh rates” prices the sheet again at today’s rates and keeps everything you typed. It tells you which rates moved and which choices are no longer offered.
Carried to its orders
A quotation with an order cannot be deleted. Re-pricing it updates the orders raised from it and keeps a price you negotiated, until an order is invoiced. After that, revise it: the revision is a new quotation with the next number, and the old one is superseded.
