The free quote sheet
Lay out a print quote with your own costs and margin, free and with no account, kept in your browser and downloaded as a PDF.
What it is
A sheet laid out the way a print quote is: one column for each quantity your customer asked for, one row for each cost, and four lines at the foot that work out every column as you type, down to the price per piece. It starts empty and suggests nothing. Every figure on it is yours.
Who it is for
Anyone who quotes print from their own costs: an estimator, an owner, or someone pricing a first job. You need no account, and nothing on the page asks you to sign up.
What you type
- The quantities, one column each, as you would write them: 1,000, or 1,000 pcs.
- A name for each column, if you want one.
- The costs, one row each: choose a name from the list or type your own, then a figure in each column.
- Your margin, as one percentage for the whole sheet.
Copy a column to try another quantity, and add or remove columns and rows as the job needs.
Each row is priced one of two ways, chosen under its label. Amount means the figure in each cell is the whole charge for that column, a one-off cost that is the same whatever the quantity. Per quantity means the figure in each cell is a price per piece, and the sheet multiplies it by that column's quantity: printing at 10 per piece for 1,000, 7 for 2,000, and 5 for 3,000 is three figures in one row, and the amount shows under each. Changing the choice rewrites nothing: the same figures are read the new way.
Enter and the arrow keys move down and up a column, so the costs of one quantity are typed in one run. On a long quote the column names and quantities stay at the top while the costs scroll, with the price and the price per piece at the foot, and Ctrl+↑ (⌘+↑ on a Mac) in any cell goes straight to that column's quantity. When a price is the same for every quantity, type it once and choose Fill across from the row's menu, or press Ctrl+Enter (⌘+Enter on a Mac) in the cell: the empty cells to its right take the figure, and a cell you have typed is left alone.
Your quotes
Every quote you make is kept in the browser you typed it in, on that device, and nowhere else, and saved as you type. The sidebar lists them, newest first, named after the customer, the job title, or the business name you typed, or numbered until you type one. Start new at the top keeps the open quote and starts another in the same currency and margin. From a quote's menu you can rename it, duplicate it for the same job again, or delete it, which asks first. The currency and the margin in the sidebar apply to the quote that is open.
Close the tab and come back, and your quotes are as you left them. Another browser or device starts empty, clearing the browser's data removes them, and Safari may clear them after a week without a visit. Download the PDF to keep a quote for good.
Downloading it
Download PDF makes the file in your browser, so nothing is sent anywhere: a quotation with a line for each quantity at its price per piece, on A4 or Letter, with a business name, a job title, and a customer at the top and a summary under the prices if you add them. Your costs and margin stay on the sheet. The icon at the top of a column gives its line words of its own and a description, so two columns of the same quantity read apart. If your browser cannot make the file, the page prints instead, and you can choose Save as PDF there.
On a phone
The sheet shows one column at a time, with the same figures and the same actions. Copy, add, or remove a column from its menu. The button at the top left opens your quotes and the settings as a drawer.
An email or a message you leave
After a download, and from Feedback at the foot of the page, you can leave an email address, a few words, or both. Neither is needed for anything on the sheet, and nothing you typed into the sheet goes with them.
- An address gets one email with the link to the sheet. We may write now and then about Arrowmics; reply to any message and we stop.
- What you write goes to the people who build the free sheet. We read every one, and the next version is built from it.
- We keep both as a request and remove it 365 days after we close it.
What Arrowmics adds
In Arrowmics the rows price themselves from your rate card, every quotation is kept on record with the sheet behind it, your customer opens it from a link, and the order, the job, and the invoice follow it, for your whole team. The first quotation article shows the way in.
